The 7.62 NATO = 7.62 X 51 in size. The AK-47 shoots a shorter cartridge which is 7.62 X 39. If I remember right, the 7.62 NATO is also a .308 diameter bullet and the X39 is a .311 diameter. The headspace on the 7.62 is longer than the .308 and is what “could” cause issues.
